Dr. Kristin Ridder

I work collaboratively with you in order to develop a plan for therapy that fits you well. My goal is to create a compassionate and safe space to reflect on and address issues that arise in life. My hope is that through our work, you can develop skills and insight to help you create meaningful change in your life while feeling supported and guided through the process. I take a flexible and compassionate approach to therapy and incorporate effective therapies from frameworks including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. This means spending some time discovering how our thoughts and behavior can sometimes be unhelpful, and then working to develop strategies that help you lead a meaningful life and work towards your goals of therapy.

I have had the opportunity to work with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds in many different types of clinical settings such as academic medical centers including the University of Chicago and Rush University Medical Center, private practice, inpatient hospitals, and Veteran’s Affairs hospitals. Throughout my training, I developed a strong background in evidence-based therapies and have worked with people struggling with depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, bipolar disorder, psychosis, adjustment to life changes, women's health, and individuals hoping to improve their health through behavior change.
